According to Companhia Docas do Ceará (CDC), in the last 12 months the Port of Fortaleza recorded an EBITDA about 180% higher than the previous 12 months. According to the agency, in this period there was an increase in the movement of solid bulk (cereals and non-cereals), with emphasis on wheat, manganese, slag, and clinker. In general cargo, wind blades are also gaining prominence on the port’s cargo-handling list, in addition to liquid bulk. Berth 106, built to serve cruise ships, when it is not in season, started to house container operations, to give greater operational versatility to the place.
DataLiner data show that in the first four months of 2020, the Port of Fortaleza exported a volume that was 31.08% higher year-on-year. Despite this there was a 19.95% drop in imports between January-April 2020 compared to the same period in 2019:

The drop in imports is even greater when comparing the volumes of the first four-month period of 2020 with 2018 and 2017, but exports registered a year-by-year increase. Solid bulk represents 48% of the growth number, followed by liquid bulk, with 42.6%, and general cargo, which corresponds to 9.4%.
