Anglo American’s nickel production to remain steady in 2019

Mining giant Anglo American forecasts nickel production to remain steady at between 42-44,000 metric tons next year, rising to around 45,000 ton/year for 2020 and 2021. The company has two ferronickel sites in Brazil, both in the state of Goias at Barro Alto and Codemin.

Anglo American nickel output to remain stable in 2019
London — Anglo American expects to produce 42,000-44,000 mt of nickel next year, in line with forecast production for 2018, the UK-listed mining group said Tuesday.
Anglo produced 44,000 mt of nickel in 2017.
For 2020 and 2021, output is expected to edge up to around 45,000 mt/year, the company said.
Anglo’s nickel unit costs — excluding royalties and depreciation — are seen marginally lower at around $3.60/lb this year, down from $3.65/lb in 2017, and is expected to rise to around $4.00/lb in 2019.
The company’s nickel assets are located in Brazil, with two ferronickel production sites — Barro Alto and Codemin — in the state of Goias.
