Vale gives Petrobras 10 days to close supply operations in Tubarão

Last Monday, May 31, the last amendment to the Petrobras/Vale contract ended. The amendment allowed the oil company to supply ships from the Port of Tubarão, in Vitória. As the agreement will not be renewed and Petrobras will have to demobilize the base, which is operated by Transpetro, Vale announced that it will set a deadline of June 10 for the operations to be discontinued.

In a statement, the mining company informed that it chose to discontinue the bunker loading operation at the Port of Tubarão for operational reasons and that it had previously extended the deadline so it could find alternatives.

It is not yet known what the future of the operation will be. If the state-owned company does not soon decide on another location to transfer the activity, the ships will have to refuel off the coast of Espírito Santo. In addition, termination of activities at the Espírito Santo port puts more than 100 direct and indirect employees at risk of losing their jobs.
