Argentina to resume chicken exports to the European Union
Jun, 02, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202124
Since June 2, Argentina has been able to restart the export of poultry meat to the European Union, informed SENASA (Argentina’s national service for health and agrifood quality).
In a videoconference with SENASA leaders, the EU Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG Santé) confirmed that the corrective measures taken by the Argentinean organization satisfy the observations made during the virtual audit at the end of 2020. The entity will accept Argentina’s formal request to reverse the poultry meat export suspension imposed earlier upon the country.
See the chart below, compiled using DataLiner data, for the main destinations of Argentine chicken over the last 12 months:

The EU measure values the advances and guarantees offered by SENASA. The agency presented a work plan showing corrective actions and strengthening of controls. The plan also confirmed surveillance in the avian health system and certification of meat and poultry products.
