Brazil exported 86,900 tons of rice (husk basis) in May, according to ABIARROZ (the Brazilian rice industry association), which prepared the report based on figures from the Ministry of Economy. The volume is 9.4% less than the 96,000 tons that the country exported in May 2020. The deficit in the balance was 9,000 tons, informs the organization.
The graph below was compiled using DataLiner data and shows the history of Brazilian rice exports since 2020:

“We are increasingly strengthening the Brazilian Rice project, which we developed with Apex Brasil. Despite the difficulties created by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have participated in fairs and meetings, mostly virtual, seeking to increase our presence in the global market”, says the director of International Affairs at ABIARROZ, Gustavo Trevisan, in a note. “As the quality of our rice is already recognized worldwide, now we want this to be reflected in the volume of exports as well.”
