Brazilian egg exports more than double this year

Brazilian egg exports reached 5,108 tons between January and May this year, an increase of 143.4% compared to the same period in 2020 when 2,099 thousand tons were shipped.
In revenue, sales for the year reached US$ 7,01 million, an increase of 150.3%. The data were released by ABPA (the Brazilian association of animal proteins) on June 24.
Considering only the month of May, 470 tons of eggs were exported in 2021, 42% more than the fifth month of last year, when 331 tons were exported. In the same period, sales revenue reached US$ 797,000 this year, 50.1% higher than the revenue of US$531,000 registered in the fifth month of 2020.

The United Arab Emirates continues to be the main destination for sector exports. Between January and May, the Saudi market imported 3,750 tons, 335.5% more than the 861 tons imported in the same period of 2020.
Other highlights were Japan, with imports of 178.8 tons in the first five months of this year (+57.8%); and Uruguay, with 157.5 tons in the same period (+2%).
