IBGE: Almost 10% of Brazilian employed persons worked for exporting companies in 2019

Brazilian companies that work with foreign trade employed more and with higher-than-average remuneration in 2019. Exporting companies represented only 0.4% of the total number of active companies in the country (22,849), but employed almost 10% (9.4%) of the employed persons and paid an average salary 40.7% higher than the average for companies as one all. Among importers, they accounted for 0.7% of the total number of companies (38,672), but employed 15.6% of the total employed persons.
The scenario was outlined by CEMPRE 2019 (the central register of companies’ survey statistics – 2019), released this Thursday, June 24, by IBGE (the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics), which now details information on exporting companies and importers for the first time.
Among exporters, the average monthly salary was R$ 4,188.98 in 2019, 40.7% above the R$ 2,975.74 of the average remuneration of active companies in the country. The average monthly gain was even greater among importers, R$ 4,390.19. In other words, in this case, the remuneration is 47% higher.
