Itajaí cargo handling up 10% in first half

From January to June 2021, the Port of Itajaí recorded a 10% growth on the right bank of the river (public berths and APM Terminals). The site handled 3,141,965 tons, compared to 2,859,865 tons in the first half of 2020.
In the segment of containerized cargo at the APMT premises and commercial wharf, 45,152 TEU were handled in June, and in the first six months of 2021, a total of 266,272 TEU were handled, an increase of 3% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the period from July (2020) to June (2021), the Port of Itajaí handled 553,134 TEU weighing 6,071,005 tons, an increase of 7% compared to the period from July (2019) to June (2020).
The Itajaí and Navegantes Port Complex handled 1,522,789 tons during 85 calls during the month of June, bringing the total handling for the six-month period to 9,379,105 tons during 541 calls, a 32% increase compared to the same period in 2020.
In the containerized cargo segment, 130,674 TEUs were handled during the month of June at the complex, compared to 111,612 TEU in June 2020, an increase of 17%. In the full-container segment, the complex handled 631,386 TEU, against 462,531 in the same period last year, a growth of 36%.
From January to June, the complex recorded a 25% growth in TEU handled.
