The British Defense Ministry has declared that an Israeli-owned merchant ship has been attacked in the Arabian Sea.
UK maritime authorities said the attack took place on July 29 about 280 kilometers from the port of Duqm, adding that the incident was not related to piracy.
Later, the company that owns the ship, Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Maritime, said two crew, one British and one Romanian, died in the attack.
According to London, the incident occurred at night, northeast of the island of Masirah, belonging to Oman.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations Center (UKMTO) said an investigation into the attack has been launched.
Omani authorities have yet to comment on the incident. It is noteworthy that the country is located near the Persian Gulf, controlling crucial routes for the oil trade.
