An accident at a Bunge facility at the Up River hub in Argentina led to the suspension of activities at one of the group’s main processing sites in the country, according to the consulting firm, T&F, which cites several commercial sources.
A silo at the Puerto General San Martin Industrial Complex (PGSM) collapsed on the morning of August 2, leading to reports of injuries among workers. The PGSM is one of the 27 terminals on the Argentine Up River.
Maritime sources said the accident did not affect the facility’s berths or loading operations, but the terminal was closed. According to the Argentine newspaper “Rio Negro”, sources from the Acceptors Union reported that the problem started at a silo gate, which ended up collapsing completely.
