Portos RS and UFRGS sign a contract for the environmental monitoring of the Port of Porto Alegre

On Saturday, August 7, the Superintendence of the Ports of Rio Grande do Sul (Portos RS) and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) signed the contract for the monitoring of all environmental conditions of the Port of Porto Allegre. The signing took place at the headquarters of the Veleiros do Sul club.
According to Henrique Ilha, the director of quality, health, safety, and environment (QHSE) at Portos RS, “as of this contract, we will start to comply with all monitoring protocols and thus protect the environment with the best possible techniques, with renowned professionals at UFRGS,” he explained.
Ilha also believes that after the contract is signed, extremely positive results will be produced for the capital’s public wharf. “The Port of Porto Alegre is getting a great gift with this agreement, elaborated down to the tiniest detail”, he added.
From now on, the teams will go into the field to gather the information required by the contract. In addition to the director Henrique Ilha, others who signed include the superintendent of Portos RS, Fernando Estima; the director of inland ports, Bruno Almeida; the dean of UFRGS, Carlos André Bulhões Mendes; the chief of staff, Maurício Viégas; the director of the geosciences institute, Nelson Luiz Gruber; the vice-director of the geosciences institute and project coordinator, Tatiana Silva; and the assistant coordinator of the project, Flávia Farina.
