Raízen announced this Tuesday that it has signed a contract to purchase 50% of Barcos y Rodados, a leading fuel distributor in Paraguay, for USD 130 million. A deposit of USD 40 million will be paid at the signing and the remainder in five annual installments.
B&R has a network of 350 service stations, according to the Brazilian company.
As part of the transaction, Raízen will sub-license the right to use the Shell brand to B&R, whose service stations will gradually operate under this banner.
In the same statement, Raízen said it had closed two new commercial agreements for the sale of 460 million liters of cellulosic ethanol (E2G) for delivery over the next nine years.
“With these new agreements, the total volume of E2G already sold by Raízen reaches approximately 1 billion liters. It will be produced in plants to be installed in the company’s bioenergy parks,” said the company, which claims to be the only global player with the capacity to produce cellulosic ethanol on a commercial scale.
