Government of SP proposes logistical plan that includes trains and foresees private investment of R$70 billion by 2040

The government of São Paulo is going to hold public hearings until the end of the year to debate the feasibility of a passenger and cargo logistics program to be developed over the next 20 years. The state estimates that private investment may reach R$ 70 billion, including 77% for the railway sector.
The plan foresees freight express lines, intercity trains, and road and railway works in the São Paulo macro-metropolis, which includes the outskirts of the capital and the municipalities of Campinas, Sorocaba, Baixada Santista, and São José dos Campos.
A study completed in July by the PRO-TL consortium, formed by five companies that won a tender in 2018, serves as the basis for discussions. It structures alternatives to ease traffic and speed up cargo transport to the Port of Santos.
The consortium brings together the consulting firm DB Internacional; Progen, an engineering firm; TTC Engenharia de Traffic and Transportes; economic advisory Addax; and the firm Tozzini, Freire, Teixeira, e Silva Advogados.
