Agribusiness exports grow 15.8% in July, to US$ 11 billion

Agribusiness exports reached US$ 11.3 billion in July, an increase of 15.8% compared to the same period in 2020, according to an analysis by CNA (the confederation of Brazilian agriculture and livestock), based on data from the Ministry of Economy.
From January to July this year, the sector’s foreign sales reached US$ 72.7 billion, 19.9% more compared to the same period in 2020.
Soybeans led the Brazilian agricultural export basket in July, accounting for 35.3% of the total exports and revenues of US$ 4.0 billion (an increase of 15.3% compared to the same period in 2020).
Fresh beef ranked second in the export basket, with growth of 30.6% compared to July last year and sales of US$ 902.6 million.
Main Markets
China was the main destination for Brazilian exports in July, importing 35.2% of the total export amount, and the highlight was shipments of soy in grains, fresh beef, pulp, raw cane sugar, and fresh chicken meat.
Then came the European Union, with a share of 15%, followed by the United States (7.4%). Additional importers of Brazilian agro products are Thailand (2.9%); Japan (2.4%); Vietnam (2.3%); Iran (2.2%); Mexico (1.8%); Indonesia (1.8%); and South Korea (1.7%).
CNA also analyzed the priority sectors of the Agro BR Project, carried out in partnership with Apex Brasil to diversify the Brazilian export agenda.
The biggest growth in exports in July was in fish, which had increased 52.4% compared to the same period in 2020, reaching revenue of US$ 45.8 million, with a highlight on frozen lobsters. The United States was the destination of 66.2% of fish shipments.
In the dairy sector, there was a 29.6% increase in exports in July this year, compared to the same month last year, and shipments reached US$ 8.7 million. Algeria, Venezuela, the Philippines, Argentina, and Paraguay accounted for 60.4% of Brazilian foreign sales.
Exports of fruits (8.9%) and tea, mate, and spices (3.3%) also grew in July 2021 compared to the same period in 2020.
