Racketeers recruited Paranaguá truck drivers and employees in drug trafficking scheme

The racketeering ring investigated for exporting cocaine through the Port of Paranaguá, on the coast of Paraná, was recruiting truck drivers and employees at the container terminal to ship the drug abroad, according to the man named as one of the leaders of the scheme.

The 37-year old informer Jorge Santos Zela, known as “Zóio”, was arrested during “Operation Enterprise” in November last year on charges of for international drug trafficking.

The cocaine left various suppliers in Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, and Paraguay, and entered Brazil on planes that landed on the gang’s farms; the drug was then transported in vans and trucks to various ports in Brazil.
