289 kg of cocaine seized at Paranaguá
Aug, 31, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202135
On the morning of August 30, the Federal Revenue of Brazil seized 289 kg of cocaine at the Port of Paranaguá (PR). The drug was located in a container carrying a load of beans destined for the Port of Hamburg, in Germany. This is the 17th seizure of cocaine by the Federal Revenue of Brazil at the Port of Paranaguá in 2021, totaling 3,022 kg of the drug.
The traffickers used the “rip on / rip off” method whereby the drug is inserted into the container without the knowledge of the exporter, who is not involved in the crime. However, when trying to relocate the cargo of beans to make room for the cocaine in the container, traffickers ended up dropping beans in the port yard. The Federal Revenue of Brazil agents then selected bean containers near the location where the beans were found and found the cargo with the help of a scent dog.
