China’s meat imports totaled 758,000 tons in August, down 8.9% from the same month last year, according to customs data from the Asian country compiled by Reuters. The retraction is related to low domestic prices for pork, which discourages imports.
See below the volumes of beef and pork exported to China since January 2020, according to DataLiner:

Despite this reduction in August, in the first eight months of the year, Chinese meat imports reached 6.69 million tons, an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period in 2020, according to the General Administration of Customs.
China is Brazil’s largest importer of beef and pork, importing over 60% of the total volume of meat shipments.
