A ship flying under the Panama flag blocked the passage of vessels in the Suez Canal in Egypt for a few hours on Thursday (Sept. 8), informed the Al Arabiya station.
Citing local sources, the portal reported that the Coral Crystal destined for Sudan is 225 meters long and 32 meters wide. The stranding caused delays in the passage of at least four other vessels.
This is the second major incident in the Suez Canal, which connects the Red and Mediterranean seas and is one of the world’s main naval routes, since March.
Between the 23rd and 29th of that month, the container ship Ever Given was stranded, causing congestion of 422 ships.
According to the Egyptian government, the work to widen the passage of vessels is being completed to avoid such incidents.
