Pecém port handled over 1000 wind blades in 2021

Earlier this month, the Quetzal Arrow ship loaded 30 wind blades and left Pecém bound for Houston. With the conclusion of this operation, the Port of Pecém surpassed the 1000 mark for number of wind blades handled in 2021 alone. Most of the blades handled are destined for export, mainly to ports in the United States, Germany and Chile. On the import side, blades arrive mainly from ports in China. In Brazil, the blades are usually installed at wind farms in northeastern Brazil, in states such as Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Bahia.

Pecém port is specialized in handling so-called project cargo, such as wind blades. In other words, all cargoes whose measurements, dimensions and weight are outside the standards for shipment in conventional containers.
