Sales of steel products begin to reverse the curve. Last month, according to data from INDA (the national institute of steel distributors), 274,500 tons were exported, an increase of 5% compared to July. However, when compared to the same month last year, the scenario is still down. In August 2020, 373,800 tons were sold, a drop of 26.6%.
The picture is similar with regard to steel imports. According to data from INDA, 302,500 tons were purchased in August, a small drop of 2% compared to the same month in 2020 and an increase of 2.2% compared to purchases in July.
According to data from INDA, inventories totaled 848,200 tons, representing 3.1 months of sales. As a result, distributors reached a regulatory volume considered normal by INDA.
According to the data, imports of steel products in August reached 189,700 tons. This volume represented an increase of 219.7% compared to the same period last year. Compared to July, however, imports were 10.2% lower.
