Locafrio to diversify operations and expand logistics services

Locafrio, which operates custom terminals in Santos (SP), Itajaí (SC), and Suape (PE), plans to diversify its operations and expand the logistics services offered by the company. For this, the plan is to invest in new structures beyond the ports and eventually do acquisitions, said the new president of the company, Rodrigo Casado.
The company, which in recent years restructured its debt and went through a management professionalization, has already added logistical solutions, which represent about 35% of the revenue. The goal is to achieve a 50% share percentage by the end of 2025.
The focus will be on segments that require higher aggregate services, says Casado. “The strategy is to use our customs terminal base to verticalize with clients that require a different degree of specialization. Segments such as chemical, pharmaceutical, loads that need to be controlled, electronic refrigeration, high-value goods, and project load. The idea is to create a differentiation for the company.”
Today, one of the great engines of this diversification is the so-called project loads – that is, larger equipment that requires specific logistics. A sector that has driven the demands of Locafrio is sustainable energy generation which imports materials to construct wind and solar farms. “We have ten ongoing project load operations. This year, this number should increase by 90%. We have seen an explosion in this highly specialized market,” he says.
