Surveys by ABPA (the Brazilian association of animal protein) show that Brazilian exports of (fresh and processed) eggs totaled 7,329 tons between January and September, an increase of 137.7% over the same period in 2020 when 3,083 tons were shipped.
Egg exports brought in US$ 11.540 million in revenue in the first nine months of 2021, a growth of 111.8% over the same period in 2020 when revenue reached US$ 5.450 million.
In September alone, 650 tons were exported, a growth of 122.5% over the same period last year, with 292 tons. Sales for the month generated revenue of US$ 1.480 million, 35.6% more than the US$ 1.092 million registered last year.
The United Arab Emirates continues to be the main destination for Brazilian egg exports, purchasing 4,406 tons between January and September, an increase in volume of 367.7% over the same period last year when 942 tons were purchased. Other main destinations include Japan, with 649 tons (+185.8%), and Oman, with 271 tons.
“The Brazilian egg sector has strengthened its presence in the international market, expanding international promotion strategies through the sectorial brand ‘Brazilian Egg’. The main bet is on the United Arab Emirates, which is exactly where there is a strong resumption of activities. At the same time, the sector seeks to reduce the harmful impacts of high production costs, which still penalize the entire production chain”, analyzes Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA.
