A very large fire on Tuesday morning paralyzed an Athena Foods plant in Paraguay which is held by Minerva. According to Athena, the fire was controlled by firefighters with the support of the police and other officials; currently, there are only small outbreaks being fought inside the structure.
According to a statement released by Athena, the unit and surrounding areas were evacuated, and there are no injuries. The factory is located in Capitán Lombardo, in Asunción.
At the end of the day, Minerva confirmed that the fire will not cause a great loss of revenue, as Athena has a stopped unit that will be reopened while the other is out of operation. The information had been published earlier by Valor Econômico.
In a statement to the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), the company said that the fire did not cause any injuries, and employees were safely evacuated. “The slaughter and beef production operations will continue normally, with no operational or financial burden for the company,” he said.
