Mercosur Line updates Amazon River drought rate

Week 202141

Mercosul Line informed its customers that it has postponed the start date of the temporary billing due to the reduction in the water level of the Amazon River, and consequently the restriction of the ships’ operational draft. The drought rate is expected to start on November 11, 2021, and may be moved up if necessary.

The draft restriction directly affects the load capacity allowed to transit the river. With the increase in this restriction, the number of shipments to Manaus is affected, with a temporary charge being necessary for all affected shipments as follows:

Shipments with DESTINATION Manaus (North Route): R$ 550.00** per TEU
Shipments with ORIGIN Manaus (Southern Route): R$ 500.00** per TEU

The company also informed that the charge will be considered from the date of departure of the ship and the amounts presented are subject to ICMS.
