Higher prices abroad open window for dairy shipments

With the beginning of the milk harvest in Brazil, dairy imports are slowly starting to slow down. The signs were already present last week, although the average daily purchases of products from abroad are still at a level 22% above that registered in September.
According to consulting firm Milkpoint Mercado, in October, the daily volume of imports reached an average of 619 tons; in the previous month, the average was 505 tons. Exports totaled 117 tons per day in this month’s partial, 8% less than in September when sales to the foreign market reached an average of 126 tons per day.
See the chart below for a history of Brazilian dairy imports and exports since January 2019. Data are from DataLiner:

According to the consultancy’s analysts, with the increase in the supply of raw material in Brazil, the rise in international prices, and the appreciation of the dollar, a window is opened for sector exports to grow. The New Zealand stock exchange indicates prices around US$ 3,900 per ton for the next three months.
