Port of Imbituba registers an increase of 84.4% in October turnover

The Port of Imbituba increased its handling for the 4th consecutive month with a record 694,400 tons in October, an increase of 84.4% over 2020, and the best month of October ever recorded.

In 2021, handling grew every month with the exception of a 26.5% retraction in June, compared to 2020. From January to October 2021, the port received more than 5.6 million tons, representing a 20.1% increase over the previous year.

In all, the Port of Imbituba received 36 vessels in October. The main cargoes handled were coke (140,800 tons), iron ore (124,800 tons), urea (87,000 tons), and salt (74,400 tons). The port also imported corn, soybean meal, wood logs, pulp, malt/barley, and ash.

Imports led operations (52.9%), followed by exports (33.1%) and cabotage (14%).
