‘China Factor’ still having effect; beef exports drop 49%

The Ministry of Economy has reported that Brazilian exports of fresh, refrigerated, and frozen beef totaled 81,170 tons last month, representing a drop of 49% compared to November 2020. Revenue dropped 43% to $ 399.6 million. The average price per ton rose 11.8% to US$ 4,922.40.
The main importer of Brazilian protein, China stopped purchasing on September 4 due to the confirmation of two atypical cases of “mad cow” disease in Mato Grosso and Minas Gerais.
Pork exports also fell last month – the volume of shipments of fresh, chilled, or frozen pork was 70,240 tons, or 2.9% less than in November 2020. With the drop of 8, 8% in the average price per ton, to US$ 2,256.20, revenue decreased by 11.5%, to US$ 158.5 million.

Shipments of fresh, chilled, or frozen poultry meat and its edible offal fell 0.67% in the same comparison, to 305,900 tons. Export revenue, on the other hand, rose 34%, to US$ 547.27 million, thanks to a 35% increase in the average price per ton, quoted at US$ 2,256.20.
