Coffee shipments from Brazil rises in February for the first time in eight months

Green coffee exports from Brazil reached 208,500 tonnes (3.47 million bags of 60 kg) in February, up 9.16% from the same month in 2021, the first advance in the year. year-on-year comparison as wheat shipments soared, federal government data showed on Thursday.
The volumes shipped had been affected by logistical problems, such as lack of space on ships, and lower grain supply after a low harvest in 2021, according to information from exporters.
But prices, which rose more than 80% year-on-year in February, may have given some boost. In terms of revenue, foreign sales totaled US$828 million, more than double that of the same month in 2021.
June was the last month in which foreign sales rose, when the largest global coffee exporter shipped around 3 million bags, versus 2.3 million bags in the same month of 2020, according to data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex).
Soy
Soybean exports more than doubled in February to 6.27 million tonnes from 2.64 million a year earlier, amid the 2021/22 harvest season within the ideal window, and despite a crop failure caused by drought in the southern region.

According to Secex, foreign sales of beef were also a highlight and totaled 159,100 tonnes last month, against 102,200 in February of the previous year.
Iron ore was featured on the downside with 19.2 million tonnes exported in February, up from 23.9 million in the second month of 2021, the data showed.
