Argentina’s beef exports totaled 36.7 thousand tonnes in 2022, up 24.6% from January 2021. As for bone-in beef, 52.1 thousand tonnes were shipped (-24.7% per year), according to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Meat and Derivatives (CICCRA).
Export revenue totaled US$ 206.7 million in January 2022. Compared to January 2021, the export value rose 3.2%. The increase in average price, which went from US$ 4,108 per tonne in January last year to US$ 5,624 per tonne this year, more than offset the drop in exported volume (+36.9% compared to – 24 .6%).
Shipments to China were down 25.8% year-on-year. The decrease in the total volume shipped by Argentine meatpackers to the Asian colossus accounted for nearly 78% of the decline in total volume exported. In January, Israel was the second most important destination for Argentine meat industry exports, with the United States ranking third. Germany came in fourth place, with Chile coming in fifth.
