Intermodal 2022: Port of São Francisco do Sul announces investments in new scales

In a press conference held during the last day of Intermodal, the Port of São Francisco do Sul announced an investment of R$ 4 million reais in three new scales and entry and exit gates. With this, the port will have five scales. The objective is to reduce the queues of trucks to receive cargo and speed up operations.
Other investments planned are the construction of a new berth (401), with a Technical, Economic and Environmental Feasibility Study (EVTEA) scheduled for April 2022 and the demolition of berth 101, which will bring more productivity to the ships that dock at the berths. 101, 102, and 103.
According to Cleverton Vieira, the port president, São Francisco do Sul grew 105% in cargo handling in February compared to the same month in 2021. In total, 1.04 million tonnes of goods were handled last month. Imports totaled 714 thousand tonnes, driven by fertilizer and urea cargoes (400 thousand tonnes) and steel coils and bars (284 thousand tonnes). Other items were also imported, including soda (17,500 tonnes) and marble stones (11,000 tonnes).
