According to information from the Federal Government’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), released on the 21st, fresh, frozen, or chilled pork exports slowed down in the third week of March, after a slight reaction in the previous week.
According to Fernando Henrique Iglesias, SAFRAS & Mercado analyst, what is currently happening had been foreseen. At some point, China would increase its swineherd and become more absent from the market. “What was unexpected was how quickly this occurred. As a result, Brazil and other exporting countries are suffering from a drop in not only volume but also the average price paid for the product “, he claims.
The revenue obtained from pork exports so far this March, US$ 118,761,321, represents 48.7% of the amount received in all of March 2021, which was US$ 244,256,161. In terms of volume shipped, the 55,962.6 tonnes represent 57.8% of the total exported in March of last year, which was 96,795,392 tonnes.
The daily average revenue this month was US$ 9,135,486, 14.0% lower than March 2021. In comparison with the previous week, there was a decrease of 9.38%.
The average of tonnes per day reached 4,304,815, an increase of 2.3% compared to the same month of 2021. Compared to the previous week, there was a decrease of 8.57%.
The price paid per tonne, US$ 2,122.155 this March, is 15.9% lower than last March. Compared to the value reached in the previous week, the result represents a slight drop of 0.88%.
