Earlier this month, the Port of Itaqui became a certified member of AAPA, the American Association of Port Authorities. This international institution represents public ports in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

As a member, the Port of Itaqui may benefit from extensive training programs by AAPA, professional development courses, and annual events like the Spring Conference, as well as the association’s research, communication, and public awareness initiatives.

AAPA aims to advocate for the port community’s common interests and cultivate leadership in trade, transportation, ecology, and other port development and operations issues.

As a port leadership school, the institution educates maritime professionals and executives, preparing them for new opportunities by keeping up with industry changes. In addition, the AAPA “works with its members to “give a platform to important messages and perform vital public education and policymaking initiatives that help consolidate the role of ports in the Western Hemisphere.”
