Coffee: USDA estimates a 5% increase in imports from China in 2021/22

Coffee imports from China in 2021/22 (October/September) are expected to reach 4 million 60kg sacks, representing a 5% increase compared to 2020/21 imports (3.8 million bags). These 2020/21 imports had already increased by 30% compared to 2019/20. The estimate is from China’s United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) attaché.

Coffee production in China in 2021/22 is expected to drop to 1.75 million bags, according to information from the USDA attaché.

The report indicates that coffee imports from China between 2015/16 and 2020/21 grew tremendously.
