Paranaguá port terminals are granted international certificates

Three port terminals that are part of the Port of Paranaguá received, on April 25, a declaration of compliance with the strictest international safety standards. The document, delivered to Catallini, Interalli Grãos, and Fospar, is issued by the National Commission for Public Security in Ports, Terminals, and Waterways (Conportos).
“This certification ensures that terminals comply with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code. In sum, that means that a specific site employs the same monitoring and access control mechanism used worldwide according to the guidelines passed by the International Maritime Organization”, explains Bruno Bassani Rebelo from the Federal Police.
According to Cesar Kamakawa, head of security at Portos do Paraná, ISPS guidelines guarantee greater safety and prevent drug trafficking and crimes such as terrorism. “For the market, it means more contracts and flow of cargo ships. Therefore, the ISPS Code certification directly impacts all port activities”, he says.
