Brazilian exports of poultry genetic material grew 13.2% in the first four months of 2022 compared to the previous year, according to information released this Monday (30) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). The country shipped 5,100 tonnes. Revenue reached USD 54.6 million, up 19.3%.
“Global production framework continues to be in demand for poultry genetics, given the impacts of the Avian Influenza health crisis on several large producers. Brazil, which has never registered the disease in its territory, remains an essential supplier of these high added value inputs for importing markets,” said ABPA President Ricardo Santin.
Solely in April, exports totaled 1,180 tonnes, 4.9% more than in the same month last year. Revenue generated was USD 13.4 million, a 33.8% expansion. The sector exports products such as day-old chicks and fertile eggs for use in the poultry industry in other countries.
