Argentina’s vehicle exports up 34.4% YoY

Argentina’s automakers produced 46,400 units in May 2022, up 32.8% from the same month in the previous year and 5.9% from April. The data was published by Adefa, which represents the vehicle industry in the country.
Year-to-date, 195,300 cars and light commercial vehicles left assembly lines, an increase of 27.2% over the first five months of last year when Argentine automakers produced 153,500 vehicles.
Exports last month increased by 34.4% over May 2021, with 26,800 units shipped. However, comparing this result with that of April, there was a decrease of 2.4%. From January to May, Argentine vehicle manufacturing companies exported 108,200 vehicles, increasing 27% from the same period last year.
In May, the Argentine market reversed its negative trend, closing with a 1% increase, with 174,300 automobiles sold. According to licensing data supplied by Acara, which represents dealers in that country, sales increased 53% over May 2021, totaling 35,100.
