Cotton: textile exports grow 29.61% from January to April

Exports from the textile and clothing industry grew 29.61% in the first four months of 2022. According to information compiled by the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Abit) based on Comex data, the sector exported the equivalent of US$396.3 million from January to April, an increase of 29.61% from the same period in 2021.
The increase was driven by the rise in sales to neighboring countries, such as Argentina (+36.2%), Colombia (+61.64%), and Peru (+56.8%). Imports grew 9.82%, reaching US$1.89 billion, pushed by the average price of foreign products (+38.9%) and the participation of clothing in the imported value, which grew from 28% to 35%.
