Imbituba cargo throughput grows 19.3% in the first half of the year

Located in the south of Santa Catarina, the Port of Imbituba closed the first half of the year with a 3.5 million tonnes throughput, representing a 19.35% increase in cargo operations compared to last year. From January to June, the port received 139 vessels, an increase of 8.6% compared to 2021.
Solid bulks lead operations, corresponding to 78.3% of the volume handled in the period, followed by containers (12.2%), general cargo (9.1%), and liquid bulk (0.4%). The main products transported were petroleum coke, containers, fertilizers, salt, and iron ore.
Most of the operations seen in Imbituba were import operations (46.6%), which increased 6.9% in the amount landed compared to the 1st half of 2021. On the other hand, exports accounted for 41.4% of the port’s handling, with an increase of 43.8%.
Cabotage, navigation between Brazilian ports, corresponds to 6.1% of the volume in tonnes transported in the period, representing 12.4% of the total movement.
The forecast for the year is that throughput will reach 7 million tonnes at the Port of Imbituba this year.
