Brazil shipped 20% more footwear components in the first half of 2022

Shipments of leather and footwear components from Brazil amounted to USD 214.3 million in the first half of 2022, 20% more than last year. This info is from the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear, and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal). These figures represent a recovery from the pre-pandemic results, such as in 2019, when exports in the first half totaled USD 175 million.
Argentina was Brazil’s main partner in this industry, purchasing the equivalent of USD 48.4 million in the period, 56% more than in the same period last year. China was the second main destination, importing the equivalent of US$ 44.23 million in components, 2% more than in the same period the previous year.
The principal components exported in the first half of the year were chemical products used in leather tanning (US$ 96.33 million, with a growth of 7% compared to the same period in 2021), uppers (US$ 60 million, up 23%), chemical products for footwear/adhesives (US$ 23 million, up 27%), and soles (US$ 14.7 million, up 60%).
