CMA CGM, Cosco and Evergreen become vessel providers for SSA service

Having participated in the Sino South America service (SSA) since January 2019 through the acquistion of slots, French container liner, CMA CGM, announced this week it will start providing its own vessels for the service. The first CMA CGM vessel has not been named yet, however is expected to call at the Port of Itaguaí on 4 July.
Cosco, which has been part of the service since January 2019, will also start providing vessels. It is expected that operations will begin in June, however OOCL, which is now part of the COSCO group, will begin operations with vessel Cosco New York, with its first call scheduled for 9 May at the port of Itaguaí.
Evergreen has also joined the service and will provide one vessel which has its first call scheduled for 20 June.
According to CMA CGM, one additional call will be added in HONG KONG.
Westbound: QINGDAO – SHANGHAI – NINGBO – SHEKOU – SINGAPORE – ITAGUAI
Eastbound: ITAGUAI – SANTOS – PARANAGUA – ITAPOA – NAVEGANTES – ITAJAI – SANTOS – SINGAPORE – HONG KONG – QINGDAO
The SSA route has eleven vessels with a weekly frequency. DatamarNews reported that PIL would purchase slots on vessels operated by Cosco and CMA-CGM in the ASAS service (ESA/SEAS/ASIA) SL I and eventually become a vessel provider for the service.
