Beef: Mato Grosso-based meatpacker clear to export to China again

Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) managed to revert, on August 18, the suspension of beef exports imposed by China on the meatpacker Redentor, based in Guarantã do Norte, Mato Grosso, according to a statement released by the company on the same day.

According to the company, “the recent improvements made to the unit” were fundamental for restoring the plant for the Chinese market. Currently, the meatpacking plant slaughters and cuts 600 cattle a day: an operation that generates 600 direct and 1800 indirect jobs in the region.

“It is also worth emphasizing that, in addition to the recent improvements, the Mato Grosso-based meatpacker is prepared to export to the United States market, which is one of the world’s major beef consumers,” informed the company.

The country’s General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) announced the suspension of shipments from the plant on the 9th, without informing the reasons or when imports would resume.
