Santos Brasil will invest roughly R$ 120 million in Tecon Vila do Conde, located in the city of Barcarena (96 kilometers from Belém), Pará, in expansion works and the purchase of new equipment to increase the terminal’s capacity by 40%, from 217 thousand TEUs/year to 300 thousand TEUs/year by 2025.
The new investment cycle includes the expansion of the terminal by 20 thousand m², bringing it to 108 thousand m², as well as the densification of a new area that will be used as an empty container yard, with paving, drainage, and lighting works already underway and expected to be completed in 90 days.
It also comprises the verticalization of an existing warehouse, with the elevation of the roof and shelves allowing for a 20% increase in storage capacity and a 55% increase in refrigerated container area, totaling 450 outlets. There are also plans to improve the infrastructure of the gates and the administrative building.
In terms of equipment, investments are focused on the purchase of 5 reach stackers, 1 MHC (Mobile Harbor Crane – port crane on wheels), 2 terminal tractors, three trucks, three semi-trailer trucks, three forklifts (one of 7 tons and two 4 tons) and two road cranes.
These acquisitions will complement the company’s current assets and increase the terminal’s capacity and productivity for containers and special project cargo operations, which have shown significant growth at the terminal.
