Pork exports from Brazil set monthly record

Brazilian pork exports (including all raw and processed products) totaled 116,300 tonnes in August, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). This is the largest volume ever exported by the Brazilian sector in a single month, exceeding by 27.7% the 91 thousand tonnes achieved in 2021.
In terms of revenue, August exports reached US$ 269 million, a figure 28.7% higher than that recorded in the eighth month of 2021, with US$ 209 million.

In 2022 (January to August), international pork sales totaled 722.8 thousand tonnes, a volume 4.5% lower than last year, with 756.5 thousand tonnes. Year-to-date revenue in the first eight months of 2022 reached US$ 1.607 billion, a result 11% lower than that achieved in 2021, with US$ 1.805 billion.
Country by country, China maintained its position as Brazil’s largest customer of pork by importing 49,200 tonnes in August, up 16% from the same period in 2021. Shipments to the Philippines also stood out with 11,500 tonnes (+381); Vietnam imported 6.3 thousand tonnes (+48%), Chile imported 6 thousand tonnes (+6%), and Thailand, 4.8 thousand tonnes (+8376%).
