The volume of cotton imported by Brazil totaled 753 tonnes in the month of August 2022, which was equivalent to 120 thousand dollars in international purchases. In the same month, exports generated revenue of US$124.15 million and maintained the trade balance in a surplus of US$124.03 million.
The Brazilian cotton trade balance surplus was US$ 3.208 billion from August 2021 to July 2022, 14.5% lower than the same period in the 2020/2021 season. The average price of lint shipped was 21.9% higher year-to-date, but the lower volume exported reduced total revenue.
See below the track record of the volume of cotton (HS HS 5200, HS 5201) exported and imported by Brazil from January 2021 to July 2022. The data is from DataLiner.
