EU soybean imports reach 3.12mt; Brazil is the main supplier

Soybean imports by the European Union in the 2022/23 season, which started on July 1st, totaled 3.12 million tonnes until October 9th, according to data published by the European Commission on the 11th, with Brazil being the leading supplier, accounting for 51.7% of the total purchased.
The volume imported during the same period last year was 3.38 million tonnes.
Soymeal imports in the same period of 2022/23 totaled 4.21 million tonnes, up from 4.61 million tonnes in the previous season, with Brazil as the main origin of the product.
Palm oil imports stood at 923,130 tonnes versus 1.67 million tonnes in 2021/22.
Foreign purchases of sunflower oil by the EU, mainly from Ukraine, stood at 448,677 tonnes, up from 390,193 tonnes a year earlier, the data showed.
