Argentina exports its first batch of lemons to Vietnam
Oct, 24, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202243
This first shipment consisted of 25 tons of fresh lemons that the FGF Trapani company exported from the province of Tucuman in Argentina. The shipment arrived on October 10 at the port of Haiphong. From there, the fruit was moved to the wholesale market in Hanoi to be distributed to the rest of the country.
“We are very happy with this achievement. Vietnam was a pending market for the Argentine citrus sector to expand its presence in Asian markets. We are already exporting to China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore. We aspire to position ourselves as a southern hemisphere counter-season supplier of a high-quality product in societies that are beginning to know the virtues of yellow lemon and to gradually incorporate it into their diet,” stated Pablo Padilla, the president of the Citrus Association of Northwest Argentina (ACNOA).
“We have achieved a very important milestone for citrus cultivation. This shipment was a test to verify logistical issues and to check that we could reach this market with a quality product and price that complied with the Protocol’s demands. We hope that this market will like our fruit and that we can place more volume there next year, since the beginning of the season,” stated Fabricio Trapani, director of Fresh Fruit at FGF Trapani.

Trapani recalled that Argentina is practically a pioneer in the export of yellow lemons to Vietnam, as so far, no other country in the southern hemisphere is present in this market, and only China exports lemons to this country.
