HBSA takes step closer to launching electric pushers

Hidrovias do Brasil (HBSA) continues putting forward its electric maneuvering pusher project. This week, one of the vessels, the HB Poraquê, was launched into the water during a testing session at the Belov shipyard, where the electric pushers are being built.

The project will employ unprecedented technology in inland navigation, bringing a sustainable positive impact to Brazil’s waterways: the pushers belong to a hybrid generation with batteries to reduce CO² emissions (carbon dioxide) and contribute to the industry’s transition to using cleaner energy sources.

The expectation is to avoid producing up to 2,168 tons of CO² at the project’s full maturity. The pushers will operate at Hidrovias do Brasil’s Private Use Terminal (TUP), located in Barcarena (PA), an area with a large circulation of vessels, contributing to the reduction of atmospheric emissions, noise, and vibration.
