After rising to the highest level of the year with more than 49 thousand tonnes of exports, Brazil’s glycerol sales took a step back. According to government data, 41.1 thousand tonnes of the product left the country in November.
Compared to the same period last year, shipments fell by 17.1%.
See below the track record of glycerol (hs code 1520) exports in containers between Jan 2019 to Oct 2022, according to the DataLiner market intelligence service.

Lower crude glycerol sales can primarily explain such a declining trend. Shipments of the product fell by 20.6% in the last two months, from 37 thousand tonnes in October to 29.4 thousand tonnes in November.
By comparison, distilled glycerin experienced a much smaller drop in demand. November exports stood at 11.7 thousand tonnes, just 2.5% less than in October.
