Amazonas-based Port of Parintins reopens after revitalization

The Ministry of Transport, through the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit), has completed the works to revitalize the port of Parintins, on Amazonas, which had several interdictions in the previous year due to technical difficulties that rendered the unit unfeasible. The metal plates on the bottom of the floating pier that had worn out were replaced to ensure user safety. The project cost around R$ 6 million to complete.

The terminal had been out of service since July 1, 2022. It reopened on Tuesday (17), and the asset could once gain offer passenger and cargo transport services, just in time for the peak season in the country’s north. Many tourist ships are expected to dock there in the coming weeks. In addition, the municipality of 116,000 inhabitants receives its supplies through the port, which is an essential source of income and employment in the region.
