Last Thursday (02), the decision of the State Commission for Environmental Control (CECA) was published in the Official Gazette of the State of Rio de Janeiro, which issues the Operating License (LO) for the Port of Angra dos Reis. With that, PortosRio Port Authority concluded, together with the State Institute of Environment (Inea), the process of renewing the environmental licensing for the Port of Angra dos Reis, which had been under analysis for 15 years, since 2007.
The new Operating License is valid until the year 2031 and is in line with current environmental and port legislation, providing for maintenance dredging, which is the role of the Port Authority.
According to the Port Authority Business Sustainability Superintendent, Gabriela Campagna, “the renewal of the LO for the Port of Angra dos Reis puts an end to yet another historic liability in PortosRio’s environmental management. The objective now is to develop and increase monitoring and inspection activities, always seeking to improve environmental management processes and alignment with the best global standards of sustainability”.
